Our Salon August has five ground-level entrances from the courtyard side and a driveway suitable for cars into the hall. Historical terracotta flooring. Our large hall for concerts of up to 750 people impresses with excellent acoustics due to the wide-span Prussian cap ceiling with steel columns. Stage about 45 m² plus back area. Wireless microphones and professional acoustic system. Beamer with screen projection for image transmission at large conferences.

The salon is named after Johann Carl Friedrich August Borsig (1804-1854), the founder of the A. Borsig company was a carpenter & mechanical engineer. In 1837, August Borsig founded an iron foundry just outside Berlin. The first successful casting on July 22 marks the start of the company. Nobody knows what will follow. What BORSIG produces is initially straightforward: screws and rail chairs for the railways, steam engines. The industrial revolution calls for means of transport, for steam locomotives. BORSIG builds them.

The sudden death of Berlin's largest employer caused great uncertainty for the city, its residents, its workers and employees. His only son, Albert Borsig, who was almost 20 years old, was hardly suitable to take over the enormously extensive mechanical engineering establishments.
